The short answer is: cannabinoids.
Hemp is a rich source of cannabinoids. It contains over 100 cannabinoids, including the better known and powerful CBD cannabinoid.
Cannabinoids play a critical role in keeping your body in balance and in optimal health. You cannot underestimate how essential and integral cannabinoids are to a happy and vital life.
You have more cannabinoid receptors in your body than neurons. That is alot of receptors. (Keep in mind that you have 100 billion neurons in your brain alone.)
In fact, your body produces its own cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) and some plants, like hemp, also have cannabinoids (phytocannabinoids).
Chocolate, echinacea, and turmeric also contain cannabinoids, but nothing like the quantity that are in the hemp plant.
Those cannabinoids interact with a system of cannabinoid receptors throughout your body called the endocannabinoid system (ESC).
If your ESC is not working well, your body gets out of balance. Then all sorts of things in your body get out of whack.
Balance is everything.
The scientific word for balance is homeostasis. And balance is what the ECS regulates.
In fact, the ESC regulates the balance for most of your body’s systems.
